Getting Around The Local Area By Bike

Depending on how confident and fit a cyclist you are, there are a range of destinations that can be accessed by bike from Ottermead.

Ponteland is just over 5 minutes away by bike down the rural North Road. There you’ll find restaurants, pubs, a supermarket and a park as well as other leisure amenities. The school run is also doable by bike, just 5 minutes to the closest primary schools.

The National Cycle Network can also be reached in less than ten minutes by bike. Route 10, which runs all the way from Carlisle to Newcastle, passes through the centre of Ponteland, with 3km of local, mostly off-road track heading west. Taking the route east, more confident cyclists can reach Dinnington in around 20 minutes.
